National Grandparents Day
National Grandparents Day is celebrated in the United States on the first Sunday after Labor Day. This year will mark the 32nd anniversary.
I am the proud product of a child raised by grandparents. In search of a better life, my mom made the decision of leaving me in the care of her mom and dad. I lived with my grandparents from the age of seven months old to my early teens. Looking back at my childhood I can honestly say those were great years.
My grandparents were the first people I called "mom and dad". Their love for me was a combination of parents and grandparents. They knew when to be strict parents, but their joy of being grandparents allowed them to spoil me a bit.
My fondest memories were with my grandfather, giving me advice about everything from; marriage and relationship, education, God, family, politics, and life in general. My grandfather passed away 12 years ago but his wisdom resides deep within me. My grandmother on the other hand just celebrated her 94th birthday.
As a mom, I take great pride nurturing the relationship between my children and my mom. Her love for them comes with great pride and joy, in addition to all the treats in her purse. She takes pride in spoiling her grand kids and in return they love her more. I am grateful that my mom and grandmother are still around to bless my children with their wisdom.
From all of us at Mozzaikwall,
Happy National Grandparents Day
