Logs in Fireplace as Decor

If you have a non-working fireplace (or just prefer to use central heating), try this trick for winter!

Fireplaces are always a desired addition in any home, but if they don’t work (or you aren’t comfortable using them), they quickly become a confusing design obstacle.   There are lots of tricks to make them beautiful (involving books or chalkboard paint), but this is by far our favorite, especially during the colder months. Measure the inside of the firebox and cut logs that exact length. We think it looks best if the logs are varying widths, but it would be equally gorgeous to have a more uniform pattern as well! Place the logs into the firebox to create a rustic installation that brings the original coziness without the weekly clean up! If you’re worried about mess (or have small kiddos who may be apt to play nearby), place a glass or acrylic sheet over the front of the firebox to “seal” the logs in. Voila!
