Displaying photography on a magazine cover is a great way to drive
emotions. Here are some of the most memorable magazine covers that help
society honor and relate to key moments in history.
Jessica McClure Morales became famous at the age of 18 months after
falling into a well in a backyard on October 14, 1987. Rescuers worked
for 58 hours to free baby Jessica from the eight-inch well casing, 22
feet below the ground. The story gained worldwide attention and later
became the subject of a 1989 television movie Everybody's Baby: The
Rescue of Jessica McClure on ABC.
The illustration is titled "Moment of Joy." Bert and Ernie are sitting
on the couch together gazing at a picture of the Supreme Court on their
television. The image was featured on The New Yorker during the week the
Supreme Court made their decision on gay marriage.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie welcomed Baby Shiloh into the world in June
