Hohenschwangau Castle, located in Germany, has undergone several
reconstructions since the 12th century. Its neogothic architecture and
jewel-toned exterior are some of its defining features.
Castle Leslie was built on a 1,000-acre Estate in Glaslough, Ireland.
The Estate features three lakes and several forests. It still belongs to
the Leslie family and is currently open to paying guests.
Neuschwanstein Castle sits on a rugged hill in Bavaria, Germany. The
palace was purchased as a personal refuge for Ludwig II of Bavaria but
quickly opened to the paying public immediately after his death in
1886.
Located in East Sussex, England, Bodiam Castle was built to defend the
area against French invasion in the 14th century. As a result, the
castle sits in the middle of a beautiful moat.
Corvin Castle sits magically in Transylvania, Romania with tall defense
towers and a drawbridge. It's rumored that Corvin Castle served as
inspiration for Bram Stoker's Count Dracula.
Located in Scotland, Eilean Donan Castle was founded in the 13th
century. The castle lay in ruins for around 200 years after a brutal
uprising, but it was restored to its former glory in 1911.
Eltz Castle, a medieval castle in Germany, is surrounded on three sides
by the Elzbach River. The castle has over 100 rooms and is owned by the
same family that lived there 33 generations ago.
Kylemore Castle was built for the family of Mitchell Henry, a wealthy
doctor from London. Now open for public tours and nature walks, the
castle sits in Galway, Ireland.
Standing as one of the most beautiful medieval fortresses in Spain,
Castillo De Coca is located above the River Voltoya. It is protected by a
deep moat and currently serves as a tourist attraction in Coca, Spain.
Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world, according to
the Guinness Book of World Records. Founded in the 9th century, the
castle encompasses several palaces and ecclesiastical buildings of
various architectural styles.
