You most likely aren't using your dishwasher to it's full potential!
Here are 6 ways to load it properly and 5 ways you can use it besides washing dishes.
1. Adjust the top rack up or down (most newer models let you do this) to fit even odd-sized items.
2. Unloading tip: Top-rack dishes dripping on the dry ones below? Empty the bottom rack first.
3. Arrange extra-dirty or crusty items on the bottom rack facing the center, where the spray arm is.
4. Don't mix silver and stainless steel flatware; if the metals touch, the silver may get pitted.
5. Alternate spoons (bowls up and down) to prevent nesting and get each piece clean.
6. Using a detergent pod? Place it in the dispenser — don't just toss it in, or it'll dissolve too quickly.
7. Use Sanitize setting to help kill germs and freshen the following (but be sure to run in a separate cycle from dishes to avoid any ick factors)
- Plastic hairbrushes
- Baseball caps
- Plastic toys
- Toothbrushes
- Rubber flip-flops
