A homemade hot cocoa mix is a great hostess gift for the chilly holiday season.
When you gift this mix, include a tag listing the ingredients and the directions so your hostess has no trouble mixing it up!
Ingredients for the Hot Cocoa Mix:
2 cups of nonfat dry milk powder
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup powdered non-dairy creamer
1/2 cup cocoa powder
dash of salt
milk chocolate candy bar
mini marshmallows (optional)
Directions to Mix:
Combine the milk powder, sugar, powdered creamer, cocoa powder, salt and if you're adding, the marshmallows in a medium bowl. Whisk the mixture together. Next, grate the chocolate candy bar and stir the shards of it into the cocoa mixture.
Place 1/4 cup of the mix into individual cellophane bags and tie securely each securely.
For serving, add 3/4 cup boiling water to the 1/4 cup of dry mix. Stir well and enjoy! If you have some whipped cream or marshmallows to add, top it off!
Makes:
4 servings
Make it Festive and Fun:
For a lovely presentation, slip the hot cocoa mugs in a basket with a package of holiday napkins and some fresh tangerines.
There was just enough room in our basket for a little fabric snowman and we instantly had a cheerful and festive gift for our hostess. It might not have cost us much, but she adored it and appreciated the special thought!
