What's Your Type?
Have you ever looked at photos of your ex-boyfriends or ex-girlfriends and realized they all look alike?! Do you always date the smart and buttoned-up type? Maybe you’re just into humor and always wind up with someone who makes you laugh, but ultimately breaks your heart? If your dating history can form an obvious pattern, then you have a definite type! Here is a list of five obvious “types” and what that means about those of us who date them!
Who doesn’t love a good sense of humor? From Chelsea Handler to Jimmy Fallon, there’s just something attractive about a person who can tell a good joke. The funny type makes for a great date as you will spend the entire evening giggling, laughing and wiping tears away from your eyes (in a good way). Do you consistently find yourself attracted to people who say they were the “class clown” in high school? Then you likely enjoy having fun and being the center of attention. The downside to dating this type? If their humor is not always positive, it may be aimed at you from time to time. And no, they won’t be laughing with you. If this is your type, hopefully your date’s mean-spirited jokes will be few and far between!
Work, work, work, the corporate type is all about their career! This can be great as it means your partner will value work and the impact they can have on the world through their career. Of course, it may also mean you’re into dating workaholics. If you always find yourself matched up with someone who wears a suit and heads to work from 9-5 (or longer), then you probably are a corporate type yourself! These types often date one another because they meet through work or colleagues – and who else would put up with an 80-hour work week besides another workaholic? The downside to dating a workaholic is that they love their career so much; they could potentially value their job more than you. The upside? They are probably driven, motivated and successful (and those are all very attractive qualities)!
Players are fun, and for that reason, many of us are attracted to them! They know just what to say and when to say it. The problem with dating a player though is in the nature of their name. The “player” believes love is just a game to be played. This can be dangerous for those who are looking for a serious, committed relationship. If you are most attracted to players, then you may be the kind of person who is attracted to drama and pain. Look at your past relationships carefully. If you see a pattern of dating people who have hurt you, become more aware about the next type of person you date. Look for those who fit the spiritual type, the funny type, or…
No lie, intelligence is a definite aphrodisiac (think Chuck Bartowski from the show Chuck or Harry Potter’s Hermione Granger). Often overlooked in high school, nerds make for great partners because they always have something valuable to say, can share thoughtful insights when you need help and make an awesome teammate at trivia night! If you always date the smart and nerdy type, then you value brains, ingenuity and a sharp wit. The only downside to dating this type is they may sometimes lack social skills and be hard to talk to if you aren’t up to their intelligence level. But, if you can get them away from their laptop long enough for date night, you’ll definitely enjoy the mental stimulus!
