School-Bus Safety

School-Bus Safety

Now that it's time to head back to the bus stop, keep in mind these pointers from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

*Try to get to the stop at least five minutes early. Stand three giants steps from the curb, and stay there until the bus comes to a stop.

*Remind your child to always use the handrails when getting on and off the bus to avoid accidental injuries from trips and falls.

*If your child needs to walk in front of the bus, tell him to take giant steps from the front of the bus before crossing and never walk behind it.

*Tell your child to let the driver know if she drops something near. He may not notice if your little one bends down to pick it up.
