My family and I had a wonderful day at the New York Transit Museum. It's no surprise that a large percentage of city resident do not know the Transit Museum even exist simply because of it's location. The Museum is housed in a decommissioned Court Street station in Brooklyn Heights (corner of Schermerhorn and Boerum place) and unless you know exactly where you are going one might easily miss it. The New York Transit Museum is the largest museum in the United States devoted to urban public transportation history, and one one of the premier institutions of its kind in the world. A variety of tours are available for school visits, adults and family programs on the weekends. The venue also offers birthday parties for the little ones. As subway commuters we take our rides for granted because of the routine; swipe our Metrocard, wait on the platform, get on the train and await our destination. I believe a trip the Transit Museum will change you the way you look at the next train ride. My children had a great time and I am sure yours will too. Until then enjoy these pictures, more will follow. Visit their web site at: mta.info/mta/museum
