Nik Wallenda's highwire crossing of Niagara Falls
Daredevil Nik Wallenda, 33, became the first person to walk across Niagara Falls on a tightrope. After months of preparations and obtaining permission from both the U.S. and Canada, Nik Wallenda successfully completed a life long dream. With his family and tens of thousands of spectators at the falls and millions more at home witnessed Wallenda's amazing achievement. Not only was it a lifelong dream of Wallenda to achieve this goal but it was also a chance to honor his great-grandfather Karl Wallenda a legendary funambilist who lost his life falling from a tightrope in Puerto Rico in 1978. At the height of 200 feet on a two-inch-wide tightrope Wallenda made this historic journey from the U.S. into Canada in 25 minutes.
Upon securing permission from the U.S and Canada Wallenda prepared for months. His team implemented measures to secure the wire and guarantee that, should Wallenda stumble safety equipment would keep him from plunging.
When asked by a reporter "what do you hope people will get from this experience?"
"To inspire people around the world," Wallenda said.
Nik Wallenda you are an inspiration to the world.
