Women of change

Leyman Gbowee is one of three women awarded with the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize. A social worker and trauma counselor Gbowee gained national attention in 2003 after she organized Liberian women to end the country's 14-year civil war.  The conflict took the lives of a quarter million, with women often left as the most vulnerable and victimized.  Gbowee unified Muslim and Christian for the first time with one goal: endind the war.
