When Dylan Seigel was asked what he would like to do to raise money for his sick friend, he replied, “I want to write a book.” And he has done just that.
Dylan’s friend, Jonah Pournazarian was born with a rare disorder. According to ABC News, “Jonah has been diagnosed with glycogen storage disease type 1B, a rare liver disorder that doesn’t have a cure.”
When Jonah was born, his parents immediately began to raise money for the disease that affects one in 1 million children. Jonah’s parents have managed to raise $400,000, but with the help of Dylan’s book, they are sure to raise tons more.
Dylan’s book is titled “Chocolate Bar.” He uses the term to mean “cool.”
The book starts, “Disneyland is so chocolate bar,” and ends with, “I like to help my friends. That is the biggest chocolate bar.” So far, the book (and, of course, subsequent chocolate bars) have helped to raise over $30,000.
Jonah’s care requires around-the-clock feedings through a tube. His feeding schedule is sensitive — the couple keeps an alarm in the bedroom set for 3:30 a.m., his father said. At school, Jonah’s parents have had to ask parents of other children to keep their child home if they get sick or to at least notify Jonah’s parents so they can keep him home.
Good thing Jonah has a great friend in Dylan. We all know support helps when suffering from an illness, and Dylan wholeheartedly supports Jonah. These two are absolutely adorable!
Just check out this video below and stay tuned to the end for ways you can help. Because helping people in need is so totally “chocolate bar.”
