At 41, Sara Blakely, creator of Spanx — the body-slimming undergarment — is worth an estimated $1 billion. Her burgeoning success earned Blakely a spot on the Forbes 2012 list of billionaires, among the likes of Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, each worth $61 and $44 billion respectively.
2012 marks Blakely’s initiation into the Forbes billionaires club and also adds her to the 104 record number of women making the cut.
This year’s list includes 1226 individuals, 128 of them newbies and 16 more individuals than the year prior – a 1 percent increase from last year.
Also making the cut is Oprah Winfrey with a net worth of $2.7 billion and the wife of late Apple CEO Steve Jobs, Laurene Jobs at the helm of a cool $9 billion empire.
