China's Harbin International Ice Festival

The 30th annual Harbin Ice & Snow World kicked off this weekend in China's remote Heilongjiang province. Visitors brave sub-zero temperatures to take in the city's massive ice- and snow-carved winter wonderland, built by 10,000 workers using 590,000 square feet of ice and 492,000 square feet of snow. The next best thing to being there? This slideshow, viewed from your cozy living room.

The festival's theme changes every year. This year's theme is "Global Ice and Snow Dream, World Cartoon Tour".

The famed Hong Kong B Duck even takes part in the wintry celebration.
